Alex trip for education
“Alex” Cyclist backpaker on bike visited many countries across 3 continents, his goal is to collect donations and contribute to drawing smiles on refugees and the needy. He is active in many charitable programs in many regions, and he is currently continuing his adventure across the continent of Asia and Europe.
* We asked “Alex” introduce us yourself?
*He said: Hi, first of all, thank you for contacting me to find out more about my journey. My name is Alex, I am 42 years old and I am from Barcelona.
* Question: What is your goal for traveling by bike?
*He said: My first really serious trip was 11 years ago. I’ve been backpacking in India for two months. There I discovered that I wanted to travel in a different way, somehow involve myself, and not just a spectator. My next trips were of a social nature, trying to contribute something wherever I went. On a bike trip from Barcelona to Morocco, it occurred to me that I could use bike trips to contribute something to others. This is how “La Bici es Bella” was created, a community of cyclists and cyclists who add a purpose of solidarity to our travels. I started on my own by taking a trip around Spain and Portugal and getting financial donations through crowdfunding for groups working for refugees and the homeless. After this experience, it occurred to me that we could be more people moving across different parts of the world to achieve the same goal. Currently, we are traveling to support Bicycles Without Borders, a project based in Senegal. Their efforts are based on providing bicycles to state schools.
* Question: What is your current trip plan?
He said: I am traveling from Barcelona to Turkey. At the moment I am writing to you, I have traveled 4500 kilometers up to a day while I am in Albania. I went through Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Kosovo.
I travel self-sufficient, camping where I pick up and cook my own food, often couscous with vegetables for lunch and pasta for dinner.
He concluded the dialogue by saying: Greetings, and thank you very much for giving me this space.
